Yesterday I participated in the annual Hourly Comics Day. It was challenging and a lot of fun. I found it really hard to try to pair down my thoughts and what I wanted to do. I have a problem with ideas blowing up really huge and getting away from me. It was also super hard to keep up doing these while having a 9-5 job. I took notes and penciled a bulk of them over my lunch break and had to wait to ink until I got home. It was still a lot of fun and I plan on doing it again next year. I still haven’t done a 24 hour comic. Doing this really put that exercise into perspective for me. I’ll do one someday soon. We’ll see… Hope you enjoy.
New comic! I know this site’s been hurtin’ for an update… Most of my doodles and things I’ve just been posting directly to twitter. I need to collect them and throw them on here. Anyhow. This is a silly little comic I did as a practice run for a comic I’m working on right now called, “The Contrarian.” Fat Batman was a doodle in my sketchbook I had a lot of fun drawing. I hope you enjoy! (Click the image above to check it out.)
I love you all and appreciate the support greatly. I’m working on my next comic book right now! More info. soon!
I had an amazing time at Heroescon. The panels and the place were awesome. It was my first comic convention out of my own city. I really enjoyed it.
The people I mentioned in this are awesome, go check out their work and enjoy:
Dustin Harbin | DHARBIN
Danielle Corsetto | Girls With Slingshots
Drew Weing | Here There Be Monsters
Evan Dorkin | Evan Dorkin
Ben Towle | Benzilla
Richard Barrett | Nathan Sorry
Stuart Sayger | stuartsayger.com
Also! I’m back from HeroesCon 2011. What an incredible weekend. I got to meet many very talented, brilliant cartoonists. It was very inspirational. I hope to get there someday! Until then- I’ll keep grinding along, loving the craft of comicery.
I’m at HeroesCon in Charlotte, NC! I got up at 4am to get here! It’s been so much fun. I met some great cartoonist and went to some awesome panels where I’ve learned a lot of great things. It’s been truly inspirational. I met some cartoonist who’ve been inspirations to me, such as Danielle Corsetto, Dustin Harbin and Drew Weing. Been a great day, I’m heading out now to watch the art auction. Oh, if you missed Pea Green’s “heroesCon” comic, you can click the image to check it out!
